Hans Hermann´s GP crash

  1. remember back before seat belt laws and most people didn't bother wearing them and some would say they rather be "thrown clear"? thems were the good ol days.

  2. I wondered about the occupant of the trackside chair until I glimpsed his rapid departure in the linked video. Good placement of the fire suppression equipment. The car almost self-administered the extinguisher.

  3. I've seen a few pictures of "driver in the air beside his tumbling car", Hans was lucky- he seemed to live an eventful life...

  4. AVUS was not the circuit to have a total brake failure - he went straight on and clipped the haybales, which launched the BRM into orbit. It must have been a surreal moment to be on the track and watching your car barrel rolling away from you.
