Monday Mystery, Clamp with roller.

We've covered the A.B. Chance company but I wonder how whatever this is fits into their product line. Ideas?

  1. Look closely at the handle and you'll see it's rated for 75,000 Volts. It's a piece of a hot-stick, used for manipulating live electrical wires. Not an emergency hot-stick, as this one is designed to clamp and stay on the wire for a while, maybe even pole-to-pull hence the roller. The handle, of course, would be a lot longer unless this one was cut for working close-quarters from a bucket...maybe not recommended practice but you gotta do what you gotta do.

  2. Here's one with a complete handle:

Probably worth 40 bucks to have around "just in case" but I'd wear gloves.

  3. Your suggestion about the handle being shortened seems feasible. I expect it hasn't been used for its original purpose in many years,
