I keep this old muffin tray in the shop to use when I'm sorting small parts. Made by the Supreme Aluminum Industries Ltd. of Scarborough, Ontario. They also made pressure cookers under the "Presto" brand as well as ladders. It looks like Alcan acquired an interest in the company in 1961, and then sold out in 1981. The company vanished soon after, and their trademark was abandoned in 1984.
I have an 8 x 8 aluminum square pan with the same trademark as the muffin tin in the photos. It was my mother's and I am still using it to bake. I LOVE this pan! "Supreme Aluminum Industries Ltd. #66168 Made in Canada
ReplyDeleteI have two oblong pans made by supreme aluminum. I am looking for the same pans. Does anyone know where I can purchase the same?
ReplyDeleteLooking.
I just bought one of their Presto pressure cookers today from Value Village for approx. $6.00. In perfect shape, made chicken soup... excellent buy, fr an exceptional product.
DeleteWe have 3 of their model 418 pressure canners which we've used for 45 years now.
DeleteI came across an old tea pot made from supreme aluminum industries
ReplyDeleteI worked for them for five years. They treated their employees well and had a loyal workforce. Easy to understand how they went out of business.
ReplyDeleteThey made the best cookie sheet I have ever owned! Wish I could find more!
ReplyDeleteSOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE, MUST HAVE THE INVENTORY THE COMPANY OWNED WHEN THEY WENT OUT OF BUSINESS, EH?
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that it would have been melted down as scrap.
DeleteIs it possible to buy the presto pressure cooker ?
ReplyDeleteI just found a Presto pressure cooker in my garage. appears to be complete but also looks to have been used as a paint receptacle. You can have it for the price of postage.
DeleteDo you by chsnce have the model number for the pressure canner i have been looking high and low for it but havent had much luck i need the regulator for the top
Deletelove my large cookie sheet that I inherited from Mum. She also had a Presto pressure cooker that served the family well. Both items are of a quality that are no longer manufactured. It is a disposable world we live in now.
ReplyDeleteI too have two 8 x 8 square aluminum pans with same trademark, received as shower gifts in 1973. Love 'em and still use them weekly.
ReplyDeleteMy mother-in law passed down her cookie sheets and jelly roll pans to my adult daughter. For the last 40 years, we have had a family tradition each December of making cookies and we are just about to leave to do this family gathering again. We will be using grandma's pans, which are still in perfect shape and shiny like new. We thought we would just check out if the company was still around and are fascinated by the history. Thank you so much for posting! Gloria in Winnipeg
ReplyDeleteWe have an original Pressure Cooker which we purchased shortly after we got married in Sept 1970. Still use it on a regular basis, but having difficulty finding a replacement Sealing Ring, Difficult to read the Model No. on the bottom where the body has sat on the burner. Instruction booklet says it is Model 603, but the rings that I picked up today for that model are far too small.
ReplyDeleteAnybody help?.
Can't let a poor sealing ring rob us of use of this favourite cooking utensil.
Would like to find a teapot looking specifically for: supreme aluminum industries ltd teapot 3556. Anybody have one??
ReplyDeleteI do have one, supreme industries teapot 3556 I would like to sell. Contact me richsully30@yahoo.com
DeleteMaybe we should be organising a 'search' of old hardware store, Salvation Army Thrift Store, pawn shops, and similar shops for any stock, that maybe in the back storage racks and storage rooms for products that are in inventories around / across the country. Perhaps some long time independent Store owner has some that were never sold. Keeping these wonderful utensils in inventory. One can always dream, dont you think.
ReplyDeleteMother had an 'Antique - by today's standards, she died in 1963, and sadly we dont kno what happened to her meagre cook ware,
Father got remarried a couple of years later, some items stayed with him and his new wife, some items were donated to Charity Shops, I believe myyouger sister received some - but we don't know what happened to the rest.j
I have a 2 pc roasting pan. Ive had for years. Just realized it has this company logo on it.
ReplyDeleteIf you can send some pics, I'll put them in the post. Thanks for the input.
ReplyDeleteI have a large cookie sheet passed down from my mother-in-law from this company and it had become so encrusted over the years, I asked my husband to clean it. He installed a steel brush on his drill and did such a good job, I now fear that the original coating has been removed -- cooking on "bare" aluminum might not be healthy...
ReplyDeleteAny ideas out there on how to "seal" a thoroughly "scrubbed" aluminum pan so that it's safe to use?
Perhaps someone knows what that coating was, if any? Anodizing is an option, but I'm not sure how safe that is, of if it's worth it..
ReplyDeleteJust picked up stock pot 4635. Wish I knew how to post pics it's a thing of beauty!
ReplyDeleteYou can send pictures to gerald@vanwyngaarden.ca I'll add them to the post. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI have just found a large 2-3 gallon pot with a handle in my attic.... must have been used to catch a roof leak years ago! It still has the red sticker on the side:)
ReplyDeleteI am looking for handles for my pot also to replace a small pot I lost
ReplyDeleteWhere can I find parts for my wearever pots are they not making them any more I have them since 1981 ,
ElJay, I have a Presto pressure canner model number md5501811. The 11 on the end is for 11 liters and I have a photo of the bottom of the pot that I could post, if I knew how. Im also looking for new sealer rings. When I phoned presto support in the USA, they said that they don't provide service for Presto canners made by Supreme! So i'm on the hunt for compatible parts made by Preto. Im sure they are there, we just have to find them!
ReplyDeleteI have 2 Supreme Aluminum cookie sheets. I have had them for 50 years. Served me well. Love the cookie sheets. I need new ones! Anyone know where I can get those cookie sheets?
ReplyDeleteAt this point, your best bet is thrift shops and flea markets!
ReplyDeleteI need a replacement seal for 418 pressure Canner. Where do I find it?
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Montreal and we definitely had a Presto pressure cooker! But Idk what happened to it. However I have 2 round 9” cake pans that I cherish. I just used them today and they are stamped “Supreme Aluminum Industries Ltd. Made in Canada”. And there is “1108” stamped above it. I’m guessing it was the model Nbr for this pan. And I will pass them down to my daughter because they are so well made !!
ReplyDeletemy grandfather worked at supreme for his entire life until retirement, i still have a few muffin tins and a great big frying pan
ReplyDeleteI have the original recipe book for my Presto Gourmet Pressure Cooker that qwe use every summer to cook corn on the cob. We received our Presto in 1978 as a wedding gift.
ReplyDeleteThere is a PARTS page in the recipe book for Model 603 (5 qt. 5.7 litre) and for Model 403 (3 1/2 qt. 4 litre)
Just don’t know how to upload the photo of the page.
To the person who is looking for the gasket, the part number for Model 603 is 2295.
I haven’t purchased a new gasket in a few years, but when I did, I bought it at Canadian Tire. If that helps.
If I recall correctly, Canadian Tire had a few different parts in stock. It looks like Home Hardware has some stock, as well
And of course, there is Amazon!
