Harley Earl, head of design at GM from 1927 to 1958, third from the left with the Firebird III of 1958. A bit heavy handed in the styling department with slightly embarrassing imagery but after all; in the last 10 years airplanes had changed from piston engines to jet power, the sound barrier had been broken, we were exploring space! And cars were basically still restyled prewar boxes on wheels...
