Sharp Collie radio

The Sharp TR-173 Collie was described as a coat-pocket radio when it was introduced in 1958.
Part of the first wave of Japanese electronics, it joined competitors like Sony and Toshiba in the brand new and increasingly popular portable transistor radio market. By the following year there were more than six million Japanese-made transistor radio sets sold in the US market.
This radio has the chromed magnetic stand that allowed the radio to sit securely on a car dashboard but is missing the leather carrying case.
