1941 Taylorcraft Model D

Seen last weekend at the Kingston Ultralight Club Annual Fly-In at Camden East Airfield.  In civilian livery, it's still used to launch sky-divers.




In World War II, this type was referred to as an "L-bird"  and was eventually given the name "Grasshopper" after General Innis P. Swift witnessed one perform a very bumpy landing.
