George Abdill; A Locomotive Engineers Album, Bonanza Books 1965

Painted satin black with polished metal details and gold leaf lettering on the tender, the first locomotive to exceed 100 mph cuts a dashing figure at the Chicago Columbian Exposition in 1893. 
With its 86 inch drivers it was capable of high speeds but its pulling capability suffered and the locomotive was later rebuilt with more practical 70 inch drivers. It was finally retired in 1952, about the time that NYC dieselized.
The locomotive is on display at the Chicago Museum of Science and Technology- still with its smaller wheels.
