I live a short distance away from the Richmond RAAF base on the outskirts of Sydney. In the early part of WW2, the base was the home of 6 Squadron, which used the Anson for reconaissance and training. Unfortunately there were two crashes of Ansons in 1939, which lead to the deaths of 9 RAAF personnel.
Interesting how the ad features the Avro Anson, which was obsolete by 1943.
ReplyDeleteObsolete as a front line war plane but was inservice all over the world as a training aircraft. They continued to be built until 1952!
