Sanglas inboard disc brake

Mick Walker, Spanish Postwar Road and Racing Motorcycles; Osprey Publishing, 1986
Sanglas was a Spanish manufacturer that went its own way. While Montesa, Bultaco and Ossa made their name through small 2 stroke competition bikes, Sanglas chose to concentrate on large utilitarian four stroke singles and stuck largely to the Spanish market. The 1976 model shown was an electric start 500 and showed their new development, an inboard disc brake featuring twin 200mm disks mounted inside a ventilated drum. Honda later used this design on the CBX550 of the early eighties.
By 1982 Yamaha had taken over the company and the home products disappeared.
