Edison's Electric Locomotive

 The first practical electric locomotive was invented by Werner von Siemens and was exhibited at the Berlin Industrial Exposition in Berlin in 1879.  
Here we have, a year later, Thomas Edison at the throttle (rheostat?) of his version of a electric passenger locomotive. Like a model train, the power came from the rails, apparently direct current. No idea what the voltage might have been. Things were simpler in 1880.
