First regularily scheduled airline

John Blake Early Airplanes; Camden House Books 1974

In January 1914 Thomas Benoist started the St Petersburg-Tampa Airboat operation with his Type XIV flying boat. When the contract ended after 3 months of operation, 1204 passengers had been carried with only 8 cancellations and a profit had been made. The line ran for another month before closing down at the end of the tourist season.
