Vanished Brands: Meyer flashlight

I recently picked up this old flashlight.  It's pretty cheaply made, but has a couple of interesting features, including the simple mechanism for moving and locking the wire stand, and provision for moving the red light at the back so that it can be positioned above the flashlight.  A separate colour-coded switch controls the main beam and the smaller red light.

A google search turns up other flashlights by this maker, but no information on the firm.  I can't help but wonder if "Meyer" wasn't just a "Confuzaname" made up by a Hong Kong company to imply German quality, much as the Japanese used "Carl Wetzlar" to sell binoculars.
