First Shipboard Landing, Aug 2nd 1917

A Sopwith Pup, piloted by Squadron Leader E H Dunning makes the first ship landing on the deck of HMS Furious. There does not appear to be much speed involved.
The Furious was a battlecruiser modified to launch aircraft off a flight deck built on the foredeck. The operation was difficult because the aircraft had to fly around the superstructure before landing. A few days after this success Dunning was killed in an accident on the third landing attempt.
