Dornier Skyservant

Britannica Book of the Year 1967.  Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc., 1967.
According to its Wikipedia entry:

The Do 28D was flown in 30 countries around the world and is still in service today. More than 150 aircraft were built. In the German Federal Armed Forces jargon, the Skyservant was called the "farmer's eagle" and was regarded as a reliable "workhorse."

As if "Skyservant" wasn't bad enough as a name, the "farmer's eagle"?  Something had to be lost in translation.

  1. It was an awesome airplane. Unfortunately its loud geared lycomings killed it!

Due their high noise levels, it was banned in several countries, what a shame!
