Above, the Röhm chuck on my Mall pneumatic drill. Unless it's a replacement chuck, it's interesting that an American power tool maker would use a German source for its chucks.
The Röhm Tool company was founded in Zella-Mehlis, Thuringia in 1909 by Heinrich Röhm. Their first product was two-jaw chucks, followed gby patented improved drill chucks the following year. In 1926 they were the first German firm to begin producing key-type drill chucks. The company suffered during World War II and in 1946 was relocated to Sontheim/Brenz. They began again modestly, making children's toys from plywood and wood waste, and then rock drills in a newly constructed barracks. Röhm Tool was established in the US in 1978, becoming ROHM Products of America in 1990.
