Having fun with big airplanes

In 1955 Tex Johnson made the new Boeing 707 famous when he barrel-rolled a prototype at a  Seattle airshow but an excerpt from the book Sigh for a Merlin by Spitfire test pilot Alex Henshaw indicates that this sort of thing was not unknown before this.
