Steamer Waterlily loading apples

Willis Metcalfe, Canvas and Steam on Quinte Waters, South Marysburgh Marine Society, 1979

I picked up the book, Canvas and Steam on Quinte Waters on the advice of the Duke. It's a look into a time when around Lake Ontario, water travel was the primary means of transportation. Activity in every small town on the coast revolved around the docks, sailing was a common career and boats were being built everywhere. Well worth a read, I found my copy on ABE books.
By WW2, cars and highways had almost completely replaced this life (the last excursion cruise out of Picton was in 1948) and almost no evidence remains.
