HMCS Aurora

After WW1 Canada still had no naval policy but the British donated three ships and two submarines to form the fledgling Canadian navy in 1920. The light cruiser Aurora (above) was impossibly expensive to run and was disposed of in August of 1921. The two destroyers, HMCS Patriot and HMCS Patrician, also in the picture, became the Canadian navy, one ship on each coast.
