Oldsmobile 1900

The single cylinder 5 hp vehicle is willed up a steep hill by its occupants during a test.
In 1901 Ransom E Olds sold 600 of these cars- its first year of production. In the next three years a further 11,000 were produced, making it the worlds first production automobile. At that point Mr. Olds left the company during a dispute to form the REO company. The Oldsmobile company was bought by General Motors and before it was phased out in 2004, produced over 35 million cars.
