Rolls Royce started building cars in late 1904 and while the company concentrated on cars, Charles Rolls developed an interest in aviation. Unfortunately he was killed in a crash in 1910. Five years later the company introduced their first airplane engine, the water cooled V-12 Eagle. Initially producing 225 hp, it was soon up to 360 hp and production continued till 1928.
