One of my vices is vises, C. Parker No 5 1/2
I dropped in to visit the Waterloo Central railway in St Jacobs today (more on that later) and was greeted by this big old Charles Parker Number 5 1/2 vise sitting out proudly by itself in the middle of the yard. It's obviously had a long hard life and it's good to see it still working!
Interesting base, is that typical of outdoor vises? Great idea and with Tuck on the side seems to be a company made them for vice use. Also looks like the vise has come kind of bedding between it and the concrete, lead maybe? Cool overall.
ReplyDeleteI'll ask!
ReplyDeleteHello sir, I am a bench vise collector I would really like to know more about this vise stand, is it concrete? What company is tuck ? And do you own this set up? Please reach out to me on Instagram @MEXASHOP1 I also have tons of vise pictures 👍 Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI checked with a railway volunteer, and he tells me this vise stand was poured by a man named Tuck for his own use who later donated it to the railway. So it is a very nicely made non commerical stand. Mystery solved. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI have one as well. Hard to find much info on the 5 1/2 but you
DeleteWould never overlook the vise itself. It’s just massive
