Belatedly, James joined the scooter trend a few years too late, in 1960. By that time the Vespa and Lambretta had the market pretty much to themselves.
It looks to be a nice sensible design and the company designed and built their own engine, a horizontal two stroke and installed it under the floor. Unfortunately it never sold in the expected volumes and was discontinued in 1966 when James closed shop.
