The Classic Motor Cycle June 1993 |
It's 1945 and a nice new Speed Twin poses in the back lot of Columbia Pictures with designer Edward Turner, American importer W.E. Johnson and a passing actress named Rita Hayworth, who puts on a smile big enough for all of them.
I am dumb. (It took me three tries to spell "dumb" correctly.) So what doesn't belong in that photo? Hah?
ReplyDeleteWikipedia tells me that the Columbia-Hayworth relationship was extremely
ReplyDeletecontentious all along, and the 1943-47 period particularly so.
Are we to conclude that the smile does not quite belong, and that the lawyers are lurking just beyond the frame ? The things we learn here...!
The 2 suits!
ReplyDeleteThose shoes. They make her feet look like lobster claws.
ReplyDeleteThe photo just seemed incongruous to me. Trying to sell Triumphs from the back lot of the movie industry. But I went looking, whole story here. https://www.motorcyclistonline.com/mr-edward-turner-triumph-engineering-co-visits-johnson-motors-inc/
