Cars in the 'hood, Mercury Comet 404

A surprisingly good body on this 1964 Comet- at least until you see the Alberta license plate, the benefits if a no-roadsalt environment . The car seems to be sitting unnaturally high on the suspension, maybe there's no engine!

  1. When I was little, street rods were jacked up in front (to minimize weight-transfer lag off the line, I believe). When I was big -- er, medium-size -- they were jacked up in back (to minimize wind resistance? Nah, just to look cool). In between, and coevally with jacked-in-back hotrods, some were jacked up all around. Maybe those were all motorless? I never looked.

  2. They were jacked up in the back to make room for the drag slicks! (I know, I saw a wannabe DukeBoy driving his so-eqipped 1974 Nova street racer the other day! Where did he come from, I wonder- 40 years out of his time...

  3. If it is still parked in the same spot, I'll check for an engine;-)
