Handcrank grinder

Here's another handy little farm-type tool, clamps onto anything solid and with its 11-1 crank ratio, you can soon have the 4" wheel turning at a useful speed. Whether you can continue to do so while trying to accurately sharpen the knife blade you're holding with your other hand, I'm not sure. No name anywhere on the device, which used to be a nice forest green.

Not quite the same...

  1. 'Twas always the clamps, with their too-small points of contact, that let down the tool as a whole. The wobble is inherent and, IME, inevitable. It'd be an especially exasperating pain in the neck if you were trying to sharpen, rather than to wreck, a chisel.

  2. Yes, the flimsy clamping arrangement isn't good. No provision to screw to anything either. Probably better to have someone else turn the crank, but its too small for two people. In the end, it's a toy.
