  1. Can't speak for the linked wrench but the vise was made by Athol Machine Co in Athol, Mass. AM Co, later Athol Machine and Foundry, was part of a soap opera involving Laroy Starrett and was by all accounts the genesis behind the formation of LS Starrett.

  2. That's a serious vise, but why did they leave the lead screw exposed like that? Where it can collect sawdust and/or metal bits, collected and stuck to it by oil/lubrication??

    Seriously puzzled by this.

  3. Perhaps it was a patent thing, but as you know, many cheaper vises had the screw exposed.
