Apparently motorcycle connecting rods can get bent and twisted in use. The Petersen Publishing Motorcycle Repair Manual from 1968 suggests this setup for straightening a rod.
To add to the distress in the bearing department I'll add my technique for removing a piston pin with a hammer and punch.
