Well-travelled Travelall

Plain and simple

  1. I was a day student at a New England prep school and the really rich families all had Travelalls the household help used to shuttle their kids to and from school. Then all of the sudden the Wagoneer became popular and the Travelalls were relegated to horse-farm hay duty.

  2. The Wagoneer probably featured classy fake wood sidepanels!

  3. Always woodgrain. I'm sure they made them without, but I don't remember seeing any. What impressed me even as a kid was that the side frames were screwed in place and they had plugs over the screws, just like real wood. The replacement kits don't have that; I guess because modern adhesives are so much better no screws are needed. But it was a nice touch.
