BKT pliers

Here's a fine pair of compact slip-joint pliers from Sweden, not much information on the company BKT, except that the city of manufacture is marked on the tool with the logo. Eskilstuna was and still is a manufacturing city, a center of steelmaking since the industrial revolution, known for firearms, edged and other tools.

thanks, Inno!

  1. My usual name for these is also slip-joint pliers, but I've heard them referred to as pump pliers or water pump pliers. Any other names?

    And yes, very nicely made.

  3. Beyond the price of actually using them again! I think we have to find out more about the town of Eskiltuna and the industries located there.

  4. An incredible amount of research into Swedish chisels! https://galootopia.com/old_tools/chisels/swedish-chisels/

I stand to be corrected, but my understanding is that back in the day Canada was the gateway for Swedish edged products into a North American market and thus many distributors held rights making them scarcer in other markets. An Ebay dealer once told me most of his axe sales were to the U.S.. Axes are still a Swedish export I believe. As an aside, Stanley did much the same thing to access the British market during their golden age.
