Electrostatic Voltmeter

Here's a precision test instrument from the time that things like this came in wooden cases with a leather handle. A beautiful thing.  It measures electrostatic voltage to an accuracy to 1%!

Unfortunately, being mechanical instead of electrically inclined, I don't really understand the importance of being able to measure things like this.

Sensitive Research Instrument Corporation was founded in 1927 in New Rochelle, NY. The company manufactured measuring instruments. 1n 1975 business was bought by EIS (Electrical Service Instruments) and a great company name was lost...

  1. Such a shame. You see these obsolete instruments in quality wooden
cases (mahogany, walnut, maple) in the flea markets, some with beautiful joinery.Likely a $100 worth of lumber in the item pictured.Same goes for the smaller instruments with leather cases, some of the nicest leather work you will find.
