Sidecars were popular in Europe in the 20's, in the USA the Model T came and it was quickly sold out, in England it was especially for "poor" people.
All the discomfort of a motorcycle, plus the lane-splitting capability of a small car (but with inferior handling) -- what's not to prefer?
Watching them at the races soon has you convinced there's a special, perverse kindof fun to be had. As transport, forget it.
