Homelite Windlass

Here's a strange thing, a winch powered by a chainsaw power head. From what I've been able to find, they were introduced in the seventies, this one was made in 1989. Probably quite useful occasionally, the only Monday Mystery about this is wondering how they thought they were going to sell enough units to pay for the development!

  1. That loop in the back is designed to slip over a trailer hitch ball for quick deployment. Arborists loved them because they were familiar with the chainsaw drive and they could fix them in the field. Before smaller electric winches were available it was probably a pretty good option and gas-powered winches are still sold today.
