Monday Mystery; Apex wrench, made in England

Another odd little wrench, the opening marked 4 is 6.5mm or a loose 1/4", 6 is 5 mm or .200". No indication what the sizes actually correspond to. As for the Apex name, I doubt its the Apex Tool Group and I'd say the quality was mediocre at best.  Reassuringly, I gather it is made of "steel".

  1. I think this might be for British Association (BA) nuts. In the UK, BA were a popular alternative to the small Whitworth sizes before metric standards were adopted.

  2. I've just looked up the nut sizes. 4 BA was 0.248" across the flats and 6 BA was 0.193".

  3. Ha! Thanks. I looked at BS and Whitworth, didn't think of BA.

  4. BA it is! I thought it looked like a spoke wrench… And I haven’t seen the Apex name before.
