Poor man's rocking chair?

If you want some movement in your chair and rocking is too violent maybe this is a solution. The spring looks like purpose-built and fits tight over a reduced diameter area on the bottom of the leg.

 It works quite well, gives a pleasant rocking time motion. No idea who the maker was.
