Pic-Pic Auto

Produced by the Swiss company Piccard-Pictet. the cars were initially basically rebadged Hispano Suizas from Spain. The cars quickly acquired a good reputation when they were introduced in 1906, first under the name SAG (Societe d’Automobiles Geneve), but the Pic-Pic name appeared in 1910. In due course the company started manufacturing their own sleeve valve engines in 4, 6 and 8 cylinder configurations. Because of their reputation, the Swiss army ordered a large number during WW1 but sales dropped off after the war and the company closed in 1920, having built about 3000 units. The remains were bought by Gnome et Rhone who carried on for a few years, building cars mostly from the stocks of spare parts. The ad above was an attempt to sell the cars in the US, which was not successful.
