A reader sent these images, she asks what is it and how old? It looks to be some sort of holster, The diaper pins are an odd touch, I've added the images to the Murray Black post but also I'll post this separately for some fresh eyes.
Okay, someone has to step up and make a fool of himself, so why not me?
Part of the wallpapering kit that I recall (with horror) from my later childhood was a piece of nicely finished wood, maybe 18" long, with one long edge radiused to about the same shape as that probable holster. This was used to chase air bubbles from the center-ish part of a newly hung strip of wallpaper out to the edge and pfft, beyond.
I have one of those long straight-edges; I knew it was for cutting wallpaper but did not know about the track-trimmer slot until I read your linked older post. Murray Black might roll in his grave but I use mine as a level extension when I'm putting in landscape blocks and pavers...it's pretty straight and works well for that.
That clip unfortunately I can only guess at and I can't find a Murray-Black catalog.
btw happy late Canada Day. We watched the show on CBC from Ottawa; gotta say it was the worst ever. Bunch of yelling and screaming that was supposed to be music? Get off my lawn!

Belated thanks for the Canada Day greeting. Myself, I avoid large crowds with free concerts. :-)
