Monday Mystery, ratchets?

What are these? Seem to be some sort of primitive ratchet-like cast iron things that seem to work in the same rotation direction, and come in different sizes.

  3. There look to be names cast into the handles which would probably be definitive clues but I'm going to throw out a WAG that they're some kind of tool for putting caps on milk bottles (I have a small collection of different size milk bottles with different neck diameters) or something like that.

  4. Mr G I am thrown by "... seem to work in the same rotation direction ...". Seems like understanding is just out of reach, jeering, like a squirrel tormenting a chained mongrel. Please clarify, if your patience allows.

  5. I just meant the ramps in all of the examples slope up in the same clockwise direction. Not sure that’s any clearer, I should have turned them all over.
Dave, there are mostly-illegible letters and numbers, but all tools are different.
