De Dion-Bouton tricycle racing

In 1897, De Dion began building tricycles using high-speed engines. These became an immediate success, selling over 15,000 units by the time production stopped in 1905. On 12 April 1902, the French racer Georges Osmont set a speed record of 109.1 km/h using a De Dion-Bouton tricycle. This does not seem like a good idea to me.

  1. In terms of surviving vehicles, I believe that the De Dion tricycle is one of the most numerous veterans around. I'd race one...
