Monday Mystery

This looks like a handy device... for something.
Anyone have any ideas?

  1. Maybe it's a home-made tool for doing front-end alignment work; maybe for twisting tie-rod ends. I man that's just a guess; it looks like it might friction-lock around something cylindrical so you can twist it (if it is even a tool).

  2. To me, this looks like a hydraulic tubing bender intended to bend tubing that is already installed on a vehicle. (I imagine a mechanic made this to get leverage to bend a poorly-routed line out of the way so he could drop a transmission pan.)

  3. The "hole" is about 1/2 inch diameter, so probably too small for front end components. The idea of bending hydraulic tubing does seem possible. Thanks for the ideas!

  4. It looks likes strap wrench, it missing the strap and pin.i had one just like this, also not much torque unless you have resin, for the canvas strap. This one may be shop made.
