The Ascania leaving the Port of Montreal

Designed for the St Lawrence river route but diverted to Halifax and NYC when the river was frozen. 
During WW2 she took part in the invasion of Sicily, landings at Anzio and landings in the south of France. She also was used as a troopship during the landings at Suez in 1956. Retired December 1956 and scrapped immediately in January 1957.
