Escape by tractor

Nikolai Mikhailov.  Discovering the Soviet Union.  Moscow:  Progress Publishers, 1965.
"While, from the point of view of their pursuers, the stolen tractor was both obvious and slow, Dmitri and Stanimir had decided it was still their best bet if they were to make it across the dense fields of sugar beets to the mountains by nightfall."

Mister G tells me that this is a Fordson tractor.  Maybe, but as the old Russian proverb goes, "doveryai no proveryai."
