Designed by the French company Turbomeca, the Palouste was a device to supply air under pressure to start jet engines. Blackburn was one of the companies to obtain a license to manufacture it.

"Palouste" doesn't translate into anything. An earlier Turbomeca turboshaft
ReplyDeleteengine was named "Artouste", the name of a lake and ski resort in the Pyrenees
region where the works are located. Palouste might be a still more obscure place name. Air starters are also called "huffers", or so I read.
