We used to make things in this country. #137: Deilcraft Fine Furniture, Kitchener, Ontario

Below, an unusual wooden tray I picked up.  It was probably for use on a desktop to hold paperclips and other office supplies.

On the bottom is this label:

According to Doors Closed...opened through archives, a project of the University of Waterloo, Deilcraft was a branch of Dominion Electrohome Industries Limited (DEIL) whose initials formed the first four letters of the name.  The website explains:
"The name Deilcraft (from the first four letters of the company’s name) was introduced around 1937 and became a household name in the Canadian home furnishings industry. This division grew from the original 30,000 sq. ft. cabinetry plant in Elmira with 50 employees to the 400,000 sq. ft. woodworking plant built in a Kitchener industrial park in 1965 – Canada’s largest cabinet plant. In addition to television and stereo cabinets, the Deilcraft division produced bedroom and dining room sets and occasional furniture."
The company ceased operation sometime in the late 1980's.
