Blakey's shoe protectors

I recall long ago, certain tough guys at school liked their clickers on their boot heels, but I always wondered about them, steel on a terrazzo floor, aren't they slippery? And if you walked across a hardwood floor...

Anyways, they're still being manufactured.

  1. Had them on my Beatle boots. Run a few steps and then you could slide the length of the school hallway balancing on your heels. Very cool looking, unless you wiped out (which happened more than I care to remember). I think our school eventually banned them.

  2. Dad put them on our shoes back in the 50's - I always thought Blakey's was just a nickname, didn't know they were the manufacturer.

  6. I used to nail soda bottle caps to the heels of my shoes when I was a kid.
