Honda Civic, 1976

Introduced to the US in 1972, the Civic was well placed for the first gas crisis. The new 1500 CVCC engine introduced in 1975 allowed it to meet the smog regulations without a catalytic converter and sales rose to over 100,000 units by 1977. Honda had an instant winner with this one.
