Hallo Mister G,RACING-GETRIEBE-AUSSENABDECKUNGEN, TYP AMC ohne Kicker

Looks like the one on my '72 Commando except it's missing the hole for the kickstart shaft. Must be a racing part - or for someone who REALLY trusts their electric starter.

AMC racing gearbox, the same as the one shown on the site you mention, but on this
one both the outer and inner covers are stacked, so the extra flange shows at the bottom.
Fitted with countless racing pre-unit engines.

I don't see this cover on the site either, but they do sell this alleged stock replacement:

https://www.rgmnorton.co.uk/buy/850-mk3-gearbox-outer-cover_3713.htm

Which, now I'm perplexed because it seems to have no hole for the gearshift shaft. (I am in no way a Norton guy.)

To rats comment, the 1975 Norton 850 mk3 is left-side shift for USA DOT rules.
