There is a stake anvil in the dining room at Hearst Castle. The hammer with it was used to ring the dinner bell. I note what look like two bells along side the anvil here.
I have a very similar looking anvil that weighs 75lbs it has been in my family for over 200 years and has a date carved in it of 1484 . It is very obvious that it was underwater for many years before it was found. Any suggestions on how to find out more about it ??? My email is okiedoeky@gmail.com

ReplyDeleteI think those are weights, probably heavy for a floor balance.

ReplyDeleteIf you don't find a name on it anywhere it could have been made by a blacksmith or homemade... very hard to trace.
ReplyDeleteBut, if you knew the town it came from, maybe check any local museums for something similar?
