The way kids brains are working these days from all the crazy influences I'd be wary of giving a bunch of them hatchets...But maybe I watch too much news...
I had one of the 1958-64 Scout models, with the red paint. It went missing years and years ago. However several years ago I found a non-Scout Bridgeport hatchet (from an earlier period than the late 50s) at a old-tool meet.
