The Lathe as art: Paul Strand photograph, 1923

He's certainly captured the 'form and beauty" of a well-made machine tool.  The author is wrong, though, in claiming that no one had seen this before. Any competent machinist appreciates this every day. It was just the general public who were out of the loop.

But the machinists don't count -- they're not 'intellectuals'.

And where can I get in on that "...$10,000 per print." action? At that rate, I've got at least a megabuck's worth of subject matter right here in the workshop with me.
