A friend went off to a retired millwrights garage sale with high hopes, I'm not sure what treasures he returned with but he took a picture of these sadly neglected tools, sent it to me saying that everything below the hacksaw was a mystery to him. I'll throw it out here:
#1 looks like s multitool of some sort, possibly some sort of shoemakers hammer or hoof pick?
#2 This is a spring loaded device that the wheels rotate when squeezed.

Not like the hatchet style but the end of the handle looks like a crude nail puller and the working end looks a lot like the modern bucket lid openers so I thought maybe it's a tool for opening fruit crates or something. It's a stretch and I can't find any evidence so far.
Yes, it has all the features of a (light duty) tool like that, I thought the nail puller end and small "hammer head" and various prying features might be related to horseshoes, I can't find anything to support that guess up either.

Mister G., looking at the relative size of #1 compared to the saw and to the utility knife handle I realize now that it's probably too small to be a crate opener. In my mind I was thinking of it being the size of a small hatchet but that's clearly not the case.
Number 1 might be a painters tool for opening and closing paint cans and metal 5 gallon buckets with the perforated tabs holding he lid on? The tiny hammer for putting the lids on tightly? The thing with the wheels is a real mystery.
